About the Creator

John, Creator of BillsTik

Hello, I’m John — the mind, hands, and heart behind BillsTik Calculator.

I’m not a startup founder with seed money or a tech bro from Silicon Valley. I’m an undergrad in Architecture and Computer Science from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. In 2001, I packed up my roots and migrated to the United States — wide-eyed, determined, and completely unprepared for the brutal ballet of bills, rent, and survival in a system that never pauses.

Those first few years were hard — not just financially, but mentally. I wasn’t building an app back then; I was still trying to navigate life where budgeting became a lifeline. I couldn’t afford to forget which paycheck covered rent, or when that insurance bill was due. So, I built a spreadsheet. A smart spreadsheet — a Frankenstein of formulas, modules, and VBA code built with all the scripting magic I could muster — tracking every penny and recurring expenses, syncing with my paychecks, It showed me which paycheck covered what and when, thus helping me make it through month after month. That spreadsheet was more than just a tool. It was my survival kit.

Then the world shifted. Smartphones became second brains, Apps became the new language of life management, and mobile was the new standard — accessible anytime, anywhere. That’s when it hit me — why not evolve the spreadsheet that got me through the chaos into something truly portable, intuitive, and designed for the world we live in now?

And so, I did.

With no corporate backing. No team. Just code, coffee, and late nights. The first version of BillsTik was written entirely in HTML and JavaScript — hacked together, refined, and broken again just to rebuild it smarter and stable. Every bug fixed was a battle won. Every tweak, a lesson learned. Every version completed was a celebration.

Fast forward to today, and BillsTik has grown into something I’m genuinely proud of. It’s no longer just a personal tool — it’s a companion I want to share with others like me. The students. The paycheck-to-paycheck warriors. The folks just trying to keep their heads above water in a sea of subscriptions, surprise charges, and forgotten due dates. It's clean, intuitive, and deeply intentional. No subscriptions. No trackers. No upsells. Just a straightforward tool that helps real people take control of their finances — on their own terms.

It was never about building a product to sell. It was about purpose. About sharing something that helped me navigate chaos and regain control — with the hope that it might do the same for someone else. To lend a hand to the overwhelmed, the overworked, the overlooked — those quietly fighting their own battles with time, income, and responsibility.

This app is, in its essence, a journal. To problem-solvers. To dreamers. To anyone who's ever sat at the kitchen table with a stack of bills and a prayer. And while the journey started alone — with just me, my code, and a mountain of persistence — I built this to be shared.

So here it is. BillsTik, from my story to yours.

And maybe — just maybe — this is only the beginning.

Thanks for being part of it .
